The above three methods can re-activate the "starved" battery
1.Replace the charger (if the battery has not been used for half a year)
First, we need to clarify why the battery will be "starved" if it is not used for a long time. If the electric bike is parked for a long time, though it is not in use, the internal controller will still consume electricity slowly. Over time, the battery voltage will drop and the power will be exhausted, resulting in the battery being "starved".
In the case of a battery that has not been charged for about half a year and is "starved", the battery voltage will drop slightly. We can choose to replace the low-voltage charger for charging, such as using a 60V charger for a 72V battery or a 48V charger for a 60V battery. Wait for the battery voltage to rise, and then use the original charger for charging.
2.Use smart charging piles (if the battery has not been used for one year)
For electric bikes that have not been used for more than one year, the battery voltage is likely to drop to a low level. At this time, we can find a smart charging pile in a repair shop or on the street. This type of charging facility can intelligently identify the voltage required for battery charging and match it accordingly.
After connecting to the smart charging pile, you only need to charge the display voltage to a level close to the battery's own voltage, and then you can use the electric bike's original charger for charging.
3.Use a 12V charger (if the battery has not been used for more than one and a half years)
For electric bikes that have not been used for one and a half years, the battery voltage has dropped to an extremely low level, making it difficult to re-activate the battery in one go. At this time, you can borrow or rent a 12V charger from a repair shop, remove the battery from the car, disconnect the wires, and charge each battery individually to re-activate the battery.
The charging time for a single 12V small battery should be controlled between 50-60 minutes. After charging each battery in sequence, reconnect the batteries in series as a battery pack, put them back into the car, and then you can use the original charger for charging.
The above three methods can re-activate the "starved" battery with extremely low cost, avoiding the need to spend hundreds of yuan to replace a new battery.
However, it should be noted that even after being re-activated, the capacity and durability of a "starved" battery will be much worse than before. To make the battery last longer, you need to avoid the battery being "starved". If you do not use the electric bike for a short period of time, you can turn off the vehicle's "air switch" under the seat to prevent the controller from discharging slowly. If you do not use the electric bike for a long time, you need to disconnect the battery wires to prevent the battery from running out of power.
